Oh my God! I have been checking for footage of this old rover for ages on YT.
Here it is!
Project SWORD called this vehicle the ANT in the 1968 Annual - click on the labels.
It would had made a fab Century 21 SWORD toy!
Do you agree?
Has anyone seen this rover in the flesh?
Amazing. As soon as I saw this I thought of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile advertising vehicle. The colour scheme of light grey and white is interesting - the same as that used on US Navy aircraft of the period, and Grumman was a major supplier of combat aircraft to the Navy and Marine Corps at the time. That makes painting a model simple.
ReplyDeleteYes, the sterile lab-coat colours of many old space rovers is striking. I wonder of a toy version would have been that colour or is it too boring for kids? This vehicle is now hanging from the ceiling in a museum in the US.
DeleteA full scale model was in the Smithsonian Air and Space museum.
ReplyDeleteThat's the one!
