Here's a couple of Cragstan tinplate toys. I believe someone once told me that supercar was based on the Ford Gyron . It does look a little bit similar. The other photos are of the Cragstan Moon Mobile.
Almost the opposite, I've got the Cragstan vintage car, it is the one I had as a kid and it was also what they used for Doctor Mopp in Camberwick Green, so I use it for that too!
The Moon Mobile Scout Wagon Explorer reminds me a little of the WW2 German Landwasserschlepper (land water tractor), a tracked amphibious vehicle. There are some good photos here: https://www.nevingtonwarmuseum.com/landwasserschlepper.html
Yes I see what you mean Paul. Fascinating. That schlepper design reminds me of the Project SWORD Moon Ranger too in a way. The Cragstan vehicle reminds me of the Matchbox Toe Joe Tow Truck and the rear crane like that of the Matchbox Magirus Deutz Crane Lorry.
The Cragstan Gyron looks very much like a Bandai Astro Boy car i saw on eBay for stupid money recently! I assume the moulds may have been passed around and different versions made...
Yes, I see what you mean Looey. This one for three and half thousand squid! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303452132586?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-134428-41853-0&mkcid=2&itemid=303452132586&targetid=878692191045&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9046344&poi=&campaignid=9437781752&mkgroupid=95524282733&rlsatarget=pla-878692191045&abcId=578896&merchantid=115113220&gclid=CjwKCAiAg8OBBhA8EiwAlKw3koB5WCoSWVeri8RoAMDRoF3NLS3vM97mLeE-wUHWD8DIQHF66274-RoCCYQQAvD_BwE
Its says Ashi Trading Co.Ltd and 1F-296. You maybe right Arto! The box art painting is a work of art. These Cragstan/ Sears tin toys have maybe the best box art in all of spacedom?
The Ford Gyron was a two wheeled gyro balanced concept car, which oddly enough, didn’t make production! The toy version was a success and saw many variations such as a Police Cruiser by Ichida and a convertible by Gorgo

DeleteInteresting sticker on the roof of the Moon Explorer. A salesman's sample?
