I know Godzilla has got bigger over the years but after seeing Brian's brilliant Rodan model I wanted to see if this Titan had also increased in size since its original film.
As always someone else has thought of it and kindly done a short film on this crucial question!

What do you think readers? Do you think getting bigger is a good thing for these monsters?
The original Rodan (Radon) was the best, IMHO. Perfect suit, perfect paint scheme, great head. And a hell of a film. The suit used in several subsequent films, such as Ghidrah, and Destroy All Monsters, had that kind of goofy head piece and, as noted, was significantly different in scale. I don't acknowledge any of the new CGI Toho monsters or films - to me, they don't exist. The last "new" Godzilla film I saw in a theater was Godzilla: 1984, and I even regret that. The last great G-film was Terror of MechaGodzilla. Classic man-in-suit kaiju eiga forever!
ReplyDeleteI love all titans Zigg and have yet to catch up on most of the old films, so I'm the opposite of you! I must watch the old Rodan film asap but I am very excited about the upcoming rumble in the jungle, Godzilla V Kong! I hope neither of them does though, that would be too much!

DeleteOh my goodness you couldn’t drag me to the new Godzilla v Kong CGI-fest under threat of torture! Computer monsters are not monsters, imho. When I heard about the upcoming faux-kaiju eiga, I revisited the glorious 1963 King Kong vs Godzilla on DVD, which I was lucky enough to see first run in a theatre. A sublime experience, and a lost art.

ReplyDeleteYeah Brian, the old totans are getting more titanic. I know Gojira is huge now and I can't imagine how big Kong will have to be in the new flick. Gojira was massive in King of the Monsters 2 years ago. Still, King Ghidorah 's bigger than the lot of 'em!
