A few more films and TV series I half-recall or I've never seen. Have you readers?
1. A film where the two leads are in touch with each other via a radio even though they are decades apart.
2. An episode of Twilight Zone I think in which Satan is locked up and mustn't be let out.
3. A TV series called Dark Skies from ages ago. What happens?
4. An instalment of a film in which a writer has the ghost of Edgar Allen Poe locked up in his basement writing more books!
5. Time Cop. Never seen it. What's it like?
6. The Hidden. Never seen it. What's this one like?
7. Lexx - used to watch this series all the time after the pub on Channel 5 I think.. How did it end?
8. Kwaidan - a japanese ghost story. Never seen it but wish I had. Any good?
10. The Terminal Man. A film based on a Michael Crichton novel. I've read a lot of Crichton but not this. What's the film like?
Frequency with Dennis Quaid sounds like your first movie
ReplyDeleteTa Dave.
Delete7. Lexx :
ReplyDeleteI too enjoyed watching this late at night. There were 4 seasons; 1 and 2 were fun, 3 was weird and 4 I havn't seen. I did buy the 19 disc dvd set last year, but I'm only half way thru season 1 atm. If I remember right this is a very brief synopsis:
Season 1 : Steal the Lexx , kill the Gigashadow
Season 2 : Mantrid replaces Gigashadow, kill Mantrid (destroying the light universe), escape to the dark universe
Season 3: Planets Fire and Water. Weird stuff going on (maybe I had consumed too much ale. Qill gind out when I rewatch), Fire and Water destroyed
Season 4: Takes place on Earth , Kai dies , Stan and Xev go off into space in baby Lexx. The End
Ta very much Timmy. Great summary. Hail the Lexx!
Delete3. Dark Skies was Spielberg's kind sequels to ET originally the sequel was to follow a different Alien species that wasn't benevolent, the series starts around the late 40's with members of a family getting abducted, another aspect was one of these aliens is stranded and takes the form of a woman's dead husband, she knows this and eventually they have a child unfortunately the alien in human form doesn't age so disappears for periods of time, all the time this happening there scary abductions, government officials chasing the aliens and abductees, I would thoroughly recommend this series- MJ
ReplyDeleteCheers MJ. I will have to catch up with Dark Skies.
DeleteKwaidan is one of the must see classic ghost story films! Robert Melius was inspired to use some of it for Conan's resurrection ritual in Conan the Barbarian.
ReplyDeleteI have to see it Looey.
DeleteTime Cop was a reasonable film starring Jean-Claude van Damme. Worth a watch
ReplyDeleteCheers Khusru. The Muscles from Brussels!
DeleteThe Hidden (1987) is a great, non-stop action movie. Rather violent, but very well done. A Los Angeles cop and a weird FBI agent (who is really an alien cop in disguise as a human team up to hunt down an alien who jumps from body to body, turning its victims into almost unstoppable killers. The cop is killed, but the good alien takes over his body, and looks after his late partner's family at the end. Cracking movie, well worth seeking out.
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting Paul. I recall the cover in VHS video rental shops.
Delete4 was a tale from the Amicus film Torture Garden where Burgess Meredith leads the unwary around his diabolical circus !
ReplyDeleteFenton
