Woodsy, here is a little thing I slapped together last week, just to get in some painting practice. It’s the ARII G-2 Jet Boat, a very crude model from the late 1960s or early 1970s.
It’s basically a top and a bottom with a few doodads as accessories, so I tried to gussy up the fuselage as best I could. No figures came with the kit, and as I didn’t want to spend $$$ on expensive aftermarket pilot figures, the G-2 remains unmanned.
Originally powered via rubber band! Enjoy!

Thats a cool model and again one ivve never seen before!
ReplyDeleteYes, this was an obscure thing I picked up about ten years on eBay for a song. When I saw how crude the model was, I thought I'd keep it for parts, but at some point, I thought trying to give it at least a sexy coat of paint couldn't hurt. Powered by rubber band was very common with these Japanese toy marine models back then. Even the small version of Midori's Stingray model was powered by elastic band!
DeleteIt is cool isn't it. It looks great and reminds me of the batboat a little. Fabulously futuristic! Good job Rob!
ReplyDeleteHey, I bet the Batboat was an influence, since I date the G-2 as being late 60s at the earliest.
