I saw this on Vectis and thought, hmmm, that's a new one on me.
The Fantom 4 Hover Craft. Its a strange looking toy and appears to be a flying saucer sat inside a launch bay. There's a hint of Major Matt Mason livery about it.
Does anyone know any more about the Fantom 4?
There's a familiarity with this, who produced the helicopter toys that spun around on a central control gantry that you controlled using 2 levers, the flying saucer reminds me of the star trek version of the toy but it came in many variations, I remember a Batcopter too,- MJ Southcoast base
ReplyDeleteThose vertibirds were brilliant I agree MJ. The batcopter sounds cool!
DeleteI used to have a Fantom 4 back in the 80s. You could plug it in to charge and then it floated with the use of a fan across your kitchen floor. very cool.
ReplyDeleteSounds cool Ben. I've never seen one in action, sounds great.
DeleteI had one. Bought from the Sears Wish Book. Late 70’s. Very thin plastic on the actual hover saucer. Broke easily making this a very rare toy. Internal fan in top of saucer was chargeable by inserting a cable in the top and charging for 60 seconds. A separate release button released the craft from the base sending it floating across the floor. Very cool toy.
ReplyDeleteSounds amazing dgsj! I've never seen one in action and it does sound really cool hovering across the floor. Thanks for sharing, it must be rare.
