I like these Sharpshooters plastic toy weapons I saw on an old auction. A typical rack toy from America's Gordy International, these rifles would have been perfect for GI Joe or other 12 inch action figures like Action Man.
Did you have anything like this?
Left to right: post-WW2 American M16 assault rifle; post-war British Sterling sub-machine gun; and American BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle) which in its original form dated back to 1918. A slightly odd mix.
ReplyDeleteCheers Paul. It sort of reminds me of the Action Man Rifle Rack I had.
DeleteAs a kid in the 60s, visiting my Chinese Grandmother in Dover, i found a similar series of 1/6 guns and grenades carded at a local corner store. Given how expensive genuine Action Man accessories were (not to even mention Tommy Gunn!) They were a great way to cheaply expand my armoury!
ReplyDeleteThose knockoffs were just great werent they Looey! Cheap and cheerful! I think I had a Tommy Gunn but can't be sure. I seem to recall getting one at a Zodiac Toys store. Did it have a squashy head?
DeleteI've got this set but (apart from the Sterling) they're sadly in poor state now.
