Hello Woodsy,
Looking for something else I found the tugboat bank. One hefty lump of die cast metal with a small locked door on the bottom but as far as I could see no slot for coins?
Interesting to see what people searched for to discover MC. I liked WOTAN's reply.

Lovely bank that Terran, you have an amazing collection! I once bought a tinplate boat like this at a car boot sale. It was quite old. I'll have to find a piccy. It was Japanese. I see this is Texaco. I think that's still a petrol brand available here. Its ironic given the current souring of US-China relations that this icon of Texas was made in China!
ReplyDeleteThat is a really nice model. Some of these banks have a concealed coin slot, with a hinged or removable cover. On my Ford Tri-motor bank the cockpit cover lifts up. I had a look on Ebay and discovered that this is one of a series of three tugboat money boxes by Ertl, each available in different finishes. I finally found a photo of one showing the coin slot - I will send Woodsy a copy of this. The section with two white pipes, just behind the funnel, appears to lift off, exposing the coin slot. Hope this helps.
ReplyDeleteI had one of these as well. Ertl made some very nicely done banks as well as other diecast toys.
