I love this Japanese Masudaya Floatster 12 toy from 1987. I assume it can float as well as crawl over stuff. Those tyres look like foan rubber.
Is it a type of Explorer 12 toy inspired by the BHS range of the 80's?
Check out this retail box with two colour variations.
What do you think?
Oh wow. Ive only ever seen one of these before, id love one! Not directly related to E12, but on the back of the trend for multi wheel atvs at the time
ReplyDeleteIt does look ace Wote. Those big tyres remind me of the Moon Crawler a bit and I'm sure I've seen a vehicle with similar tyres by Spanish outfit Tente. Multiple Wheels rule!
DeleteIt looks like a caterpillar with wheels, and is able to bend like one too. If the wheels are foam rubber, surely these would absorb water, and become waterlogged if used in the bath or a goldfish pond ?
ReplyDeleteHmmm. I see what you mean Paul. The box art does show it leaving land to enter water. We could do with some short footage from You Tube if it exists.
DeleteIf the wheels are made from a 'closed cell' foam, like 'Plastzote' (the stuff some swimming pool floats are made of) the vehicle will sit on the water, as they turn, and not sink.
ReplyDeleteMish.
I agree definitely pool noodles for wheels! I know it's called the "floatster" any Japanese readers translate the packaging??- MJ Southcoast base
DeleteSo pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the plastic foam insights guys. I've tried to find footage of this toy but there's nada. I'm sure I've seen those tyres before on another toy too.
