Here's my inspiration, the glorious Bandai Thunderbirds Jet Patrol toy, which I've only ever seen online.
Here's my junkpile [JP!] version I've just finished making.
It was a lot of fun to do.
Here's a few outdoor shots of my new JP in action.
Phew!
Time for a beer!
What do you think?
What a little cracker. Have to say the Bandai original is one of the ugliest toys ive ever seen, but your little model is ace!
ReplyDeleteTa Wote. It is an odd vehice. Did it appear on TV or in TV21?
DeleteTime well spent!
ReplyDeleteThanks Terran. I may have to do another one now! I'm bored!
DeleteI like that, like the photos too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kev. It was lockdown fun!
DeleteThat is a bang on copy of the Bandai Jet Patrol - well done.
ReplyDeleteMost kind Paul. You gotta do something stuck indoors!
DeleteExtraordinary work Woodsy.
ReplyDeleteQuite how it fits inside your TB2's pod I'll never know.
Mish.
Thanks a lot Mish! My TB2 pod was made by a firm called TARDIS!
DeleteLovely work! I'm impressed with how you've captured the spirit of the original.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that could be improved on would to give it a transparent dome. I'm thinking I should send you some tips for how to make them easily in the comfort of your own home.
( As with me, Missus permitting!)
Thanks a bunch Looey! It was fun to do. The dome I used is half a deo bottle. My basic principle is that if I can't find it at home then I don't use it. I am a lazy bodger after all! Humbrol paint is the exception! But tips always welcomed.
DeleteThat is a fantastic piece of work, Woodsy. Hats off to your resourcefulness and creativity! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tone. Glad you like it. It was great fun to make. My new project is far trickier!
DeleteThe toy is a complete original, as far as I know. There is a Jet Bulldozer, which I have based on Firefly and a Jet Gyro loosely based on a helijet. Could be your next project!
ReplyDeleteSo Bandai made it up Wote! Great design. I like it!
DeleteI seriously love all of your scratch-builds, and this one may be your masterpiece. Such an awkward, homely craft, and because of that, instantly iconic. Your SB collection would make a hell of a photo book, someday...
ReplyDeleteAw thanks Zigg! Thanks so much! I'm chuffed!
