The origin of the Spacex Moon Buggy toy, is well documented, both here and elsewhere - especially the card art which is a posterised version of a NASA photograph. But it is always surprising to find something you had completely forgotten about, such as this spread from Countdown issue 5.

Before the final design for the Lunar Rover was chosen, NASA and the various companies proposing designs for the vehicle, tried out many different types of wheel, from the rigid conical style that we see in the Spacex Buggy, to the sprung foil type which also informed the design of the Spacex MEV 2.

As much as I like the final Lunar Rover design, I much prefer the Grumman version shown on the Countdown Think Tank article!
