Mention of Gerry Anderson's Journey to the Far Side of the Sun aka Doppelganger on the blog this week prompted me to look into any collectables it spawned.
I'll add to this post as and when but here's a starter for ten:
An Australian Daybill and Derek Meddings concept drawing auctioned at the Propstoreo of London/ L.A. https://propstoreauction.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/44/lot/9588/#

This is an interesting site listing all the vehicles in the film
God I love this car! Its like my die-cast Astro 1!
Beautiful collectibles from a film I so desperately wanted to like... that rocket sled thing was my favorite, too bad it was in the film for two seconds, and blurry at that!
ReplyDeleteDid you not like it Zigg? Have you seen Moon. Like that?
DeleteAircraft and spacecraft from the film are covered in impdb.org/index.php?title=Doppelg%C3%A4nger which is the Internet Movie Plane Database. I rather like this line about the NASA Transport having 'engine nacelles in structurally dubious locations'.
ReplyDeleteThere are several different Internet Movie Databases devoted to different subjects, such as cars (vehicles of all types), planes (again aircraft of all types), boats, and firearms. There may be others.
Someone really needs to do affordable plastic kits or die-casts of all these vehicles, planes, and spacecraft.
Thanks Paul. Very interesting. Scoop has done a big post on the film this morning.
