Hi Woodsy
Further to your blog item a few days ago, attached are a couple of pics of my Gemini space capsules.
I have two of these – one that I've had since I was a boy, which is still in good condition; the other is a fully boxed and unused one that I picked up a couple of years ago.
It's a great toy – I remember having lots of fun with it when I was little.
Hope you like the pics.
Cheers
Tony P
Brilliant toy, I had one as a kid and I have another one now!
ReplyDeleteI had an Aurora [I think] model kit of this when I was a kid, and interestingly, it looks as if this toy is a completed version of the same kit. Even the section fasteners look the same.
ReplyDeleteAs do the Astronauts.
On closer look its a Ravell 1/24th
DeleteOne at the Helsinki Base hangar as well, Tony. A fabulous toy, the box is nice too. The hatches on mine tend to get stuck a little bit, so you have to be careful not to snap the hinges.
ReplyDeleteI had this as a kid, bought by my dad from the famous Barras market in Glasgow. Would you consider selling one, Tony. Me give you mucho money.
ReplyDeleteThere's one on Ebay Kid but it is indeed mucho mucho dosh - from the Netherlands https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gemini-NASA-space-capsule-friction-toy-1960s-OVP-org-Box-Mint-by-W5-Hong-Kong/264647152595?hash=item3d9e3313d3:g:9rMAAOSwgzZeVTO6 A lot cheaper but not the same I know is a cute little LEM and astronaut cake topper set for a few squid on Etsy. I got a set last year. Mucho fun https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/515959122/vintage-1960s-deadstock-apollo-space?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=space+cake+topper+plastic&ref=sr_gallery-1-2&organic_search_click=1&sca=1
DeleteJust bought it! Thanks for the heads-up, Woodsy. I might get the cake topper too.
DeleteWow! Fast work Kid! Well done! Friends re-united!
DeleteWell done Kid - glad you were able to pick one up. Not cheap, but neither was my boxed one. Interesting variation in your model - I see from the Ebay listing that it has an orange interior, but both of mine (my old one from childhood and the boxed one from Ebay a couple of years ago) both have black interiors. So there must be at least two different versions of this. Cheers Tony
ReplyDeleteAnd I couldn't tell you what colour the interior was in my original one, TK, as I just can't recall. I'd like to think it was orange, because it gives it a bit of colour. The control panel 'dashboard' is black in my new one though.
