This a Dr. Who mystery.
The description of this auctioned bundle of Dr. Who SHADA magazines mentions Century 21 toys. Does this mean that there is an article about them in one of these old SHADA magazines? Anyone know what this is about? Anyone know SHADA?
Here's the description.
"A mixed group of "Dr. Who" related comic and colour books which includes Marvel Collectors Issue 1 and No.57-60, Dr. Who Summer and Winter Specials, Dr. Who Weekly No.1-43, Dr. Who Monthly 44-102, Century 21 Toys and Fanzines - conditions are generally Good to Mint. (lg qty)"
Don't know the mag, but Shada was a Dr Who story from the Tom Baker era, written by Douglas Adams, that was cancelled due to a strike at the BBC.
ReplyDeleteMish.
Good to know Mish. I've never actually seen the SHADA magazine ever. Wonder if it was fan club fanzine?
DeleteIt was a freelance fanzine edited by Gary Russell (who now works on various official Doctor Who projects from books, Big Finish CD's and I think he script edits the official show). They did around 15+ issues of the fanzine. It might be a slight typo as the early Dr Who monthlies reprinted the Century 21 Dalek strips and there were always articles about Who merchandise (I remember the 1986 summer special was a merchandise special). Maybe Shada focussed on the Century 21 Dalek strips as well at some point ?
ReplyDeleteThanks Andy. Fascinating. I imagine there are loads of WHO fanzines spanning the years. Thanks for the info.
