I saw this plastic toy ray gun on auction.
It would make a nice Xmas stocking filler!
I saved the pictures.
There's just something familiar about it.
It sort of reminds me a little of the Lone Star Stingray Ray Gun.
Well, maybe not!
Seasonal Greetings!
Well yes actually, Woodsy.
ReplyDeleteThey're not from the same moulds, or anything, but the design elements (barrel fins, side detail etc) are very similar, so definitely 'copied' I'd say.
Mish.
Glad you agree Mish. Sometimes I think I'm dreaming!
DeleteI had a Stingray pistol as a kid. I only recently discovered Lone Star reused the mouldings from their Dan Dare gun, but just now while checking Mr Google, I find out THAT was a reuse from a Space Ranger pistol! It's amazing how a different engraved logo can serve the needs of three generations of little boys!
ReplyDeleteSorry for the late reply Lewis. Illness stopped play. I know what you mean about ray gun longevity. This design is a classic. The Space Ranger must be its origin. Did you hold onto your Stingray pistol or did the Titans get it?
