As I'm one of those people, I thought I'd remind myself of just a small sample of the highlights from the previous one, the Special Assignment convention that took place in 2017.
As the little seen The Secret Service series is celebrating it's fiftieth year, I suspect there'll be a few special features on Father Unwin and co. At Special Assignment the original puppets of Father Unwin and Matthew Harding were on display.
As the position of the venue hotel is fairly close to some of the original locations, a friend and I decided to take a look at the Vicarage and the Church. I hasten to add that the Vicarage is a private residence and not actually open to the public.
There was a fabulous art display with some outstanding pieces. Hopefully, we'll see a similar display this weekend.
One of those artists, the late great Mike Noble. An extremely likeable man, always smiling and so amiable.
Another popular guest that has sadly passed away, and the best Scott Tracy impersonator ever, Shane Rimmer. Shane was so well liked by everyone, a lovely man and without doubt a fan-favourite. I believe Supercelebration are doing a special well deserved tribute to him this weekend.
Anderson conventions means models, and top notch ones too. Special Assignment had plenty, including contributions from David Sisson, Chris Potter, and Mamas Pitsillis.
Ben ten Westenend is hoping to bring his huge Thunderbird 2 launch diorama that debuted at the Fab Worlds of Anderson this year. Ben tends to build big!
This Thunderbird 3 looks to be over five foot tall.
As it was the fiftieth anniversary of Captain Scarlet there was a few Scarlet specials.
So, just a few teasers to put me in the mood. It'll soon be time to blast off to Maidenhead and a Supercelebration.
I've seen that vehicle with the 'O.T.C.' logo - on the 'Setting Up Home!' page - in some other book. Now you've done it :-) I'm going to be scratching my head all day about this one until I can figure our where I've seen it before.
