Reader Ralph Morton sent in this new photograph of his gorgeous BAOC Fireflash statuette he's having made by craftsmen in the Philippines. (Thats BAOC, not BOAC!)
It does look good doesn't it Terran. Air Terrainian gleams. Wonder what air travel will be like in 50 years with the current push towards lower emissions?
As a kid, I always thought the Fireflash was BOAC -I suppose it was the livery. It was only later when I began working with other VFX nuts that I discovered it was Air Terrainian and had it carefully explained to me that this was a Stingray reference. Thanks David Tremont!
It would have made a wonderful C21 Toys toy Lew I reckon, Fireflash. I often wonder if the C21 Moonship toy is based on the cigar body of the Fireflash.
Speedbird from the 1930's looks right at home in the future along with the rest of the classic BOAC colours.
ReplyDeleteConcorde never looked as good as this. Great model.
