Like astronauts roving,
we drove across the foreboding Cairngorms of Scotland.
At towering Braemar Castle we paused.
The Edinburgh Watch were on the march.
They spotted us!
Attention!
Aim!
Fire!
The local Chieftain wasn't too impressed.
Others have though and been moved to capture the castle in oils
and fancied they saw pirates as one Robert Louis Stevenson had in Treasure island written nearby.
Guards, muskets, Lairds, pirates!
Phew!
Time for tea at the BnB!
Do you like castles readers? Did you visit them as a kid?
Have you read Treasure Island?
Beautifully brooding landscape, peaceful, haunting and evocative! Lucky escape from the trigger happy redcoat's though, Woodsy :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful country Tone and so welcoming. I could feel the pulse of the past beating in the hills and castles everywhere we went.
DeleteHills, misty, pines, brooding castles...its a living breathing Led Zep Song! I'm sure the troops gave No Quarter!Love it!
ReplyDeleteha ha, I know what you mean Bri! Misty Mountain Hop! Oddly enough Led Zep have strong connections to another celtic country, Wales. Bron Y Aur is a house there I think and Rob Plant has a farm there where the sheep have RP painted on them! I know cos I saw them. I even went up to his farmhouse to deliver a nature reserve leaflet but he wasn't in! Taliesin is a small town in mid-Wales too, as in Deep Purple's Book of Taliesin LP!
DeleteInteresting. This is priceless info you can't get from a book!
