Now for something completely different. Its not rock but its good.
Afternoon Delight was one of those catchy breezy radio tunes from the glorious summer of 1976. I was 15, had long hair and soaked up all the sounds that indian summer.
By the Starland Vocal Band, who had their own US TV show, it hints at the joys of daytime nookie, although I didn't know that when I was 15!
The song found fame again when it was covered by Ron Bergundy and his news team in the modern hit comedy film Anchorman.
Enjoy.
I was about 8 when I brought this 45 record home from a local variety store(which also had a huge comic selection and an awesome toy/hobby department). My mother was clearly flustered about the lyrics, but they sailed right over my head at the time.I agree with what you say about the music itself. Those opening strings bring to mind a green field of young Timothy grass and clover under a sunny blue sky,for sure.
ReplyDeleteAh. Glad someone else likes it Bri. A real gem of a song which i expect, like yours and mine, went over every kids' head at the time! Ha ha.
