I was interested in this old auction item.
Its a weathered Project SWORD Task Force 3.
The description ran thus from 21st Century Frog:
JR21 Project Sword Re Entry Task Force No 3 toy repaired painted weathered and renovated to a static model, including original outer box packaging. From the Gerry Anderson toy range in the sixties, the single seater T3 toy has been repaired and the broken friction drive removed.
What do you think readers?
Is weathering and de-friction-driving toys like this a new phenomenon?
Weathering is a NORM in Military model kits, Tabletop wargames etc.
ReplyDeleteBut in toys? If it is done right it is not a problem, but if done WELL, as most of "weathering" on toys is made really bad/unprofesional or is just real dirt and scratches.
It is like calling rusted cars a "rat rod" or "rost style" - it works only if it is done in a right way.
Interesting Ran. I like that, Rost style. is Rost the same as rust? Would you say the vehicles in Mad Max are weathered or is that something else? Punk?
DeleteRost is German version, but yeah it is "Rust"/Rat Rod style.
DeleteWeathered/Battle damage (modelers terms) or like those Punk comics "Tank girl" etc.
Is Heavy Metal a punk battle damage movie too Ran? I've never seen it.
DeleteIf you can watch Heavy Metal, then watch it as it is quite interesting in style (and the music is <3 )
Deletelooks bloody awful in my opinion and thats coming from someone who has ruined many a good toy in his time!
ReplyDeleteYes, you are the child painter of Novas and Trackers. I bet it was fun though Bill!
