Hello Woodsy
I don't remember if I sent the attached photo of my old Operation Dynamo diorama with a Wherry bringing troops home from Dunkirk so here it is.
Also some I SPY books from the 50's.
My I SPY books disappeared over the years and over time I would look for replacements. When I see them again looking through the pages I remember which items I did indeed Spy.

I like that diorama.
ReplyDeleteMe too Kev. Good job Terran! A labour of love I would say.
DeleteOperation Dynamo was a rude awakening for a generation that remembered the sacrifices of The Great War, remembered today for it's end 100 years ago.
ReplyDeleteIn 2010 I started reading as much as I could about that time in 1940 hoping new information may have been released from The Official Secrets Act, however what was new was survivors finally telling their families about the events they survived.
It's timely that today, the Eleventh Day of the Eleventh Month we remember the sacrifices of earlier generations that fought for the freedoms so many now fail to grasp.
Why is it politicians everywhere pay lip service to freedom and democracy? In the book from the German point of view about WW1, All Quiet On The Western Front, one of the soldiers bemoans that he doesn't want to make war, it's the politicians who weren't doing the fighting that wanted war.
I Spy! Ive got he Big Chief Archeology somewhere. loved those books.
