First up is this bundle of Japanese Omake.
Green LP style spaceman on top, which looks like he's a blow mould.
and in a similar pile of Glico's and Omake we find a little blue LP style alien.
This one is clearly the worst LP astronaut clone I've ever seen. Maybe its been exposed to the full corona of Alpha Proxima!
These chaps are dapper LP types lookin for a good time.
Perhaps my fave sighting this year, this Lunar Pistol carded set. I love the header artwork. Not sure if this is actually LP. Does anyone know?
There's another version on Alphadrome
One we may have seen before on MB. The deranged LP Rabbit Space Blimp.
It has a moving umbrella!
Anyone got one?
No less crazy but becoming seasonal, LP's Space Blimp of Christmas.
What were they thinking!
Have you any LP toys? Or seen any?
Can't add any information, but I love the "rack toy" ray gun and its packaging. And the space blimps are so bad they are good!
ReplyDeleteThe pistol set is ace isn't Andy. LP spacemen got in so many different sets its untrue. They were the Go to astronauts in Hong Kong! I love the blimps too. A blimp for Christmas is just what we need!
DeleteI think the four coloured ones are knock-off erasers?
ReplyDeleteH
Could well be Hugh. I'll have a look round and see if there's more evidence of them anywhere.
DeleteWoodsy, you'll never believe this, but only the other day I was thinking of asking on your blog whether anyone had ever the Santa Space Blimp, and then you go and show it on Moonbase. I had this toy as a kid (bought from Woolworth's) and dearly want to own it again. (And it probably will be dear.) Do you own it? If not, where did you get the photos, and can I use them on my own blog? Just to see pictures of it is an overwhelming experience for me.
ReplyDeleteha ha, its great when that happens Kid. A Eureka moment. Glad I could help this one. I don't own the blimp sadly. Not sure if any MB reader has one. I first posted it back in 08 but I didn't know it was a toy back then https://projectswordtoys.blogspot.com/2008/12/blog-post.html
DeleteI saw it again on Ebay i think, a few years later. It really sank home what it when I saw Alphadrome's thread. Looks like Brian who runs it has one! http://danefield.com/alpha/forums/topic/15011-hong-kong-space-toys/?do=findComment&comment=159654
I didn't remember the name of the toy, so I'd have had to ask about it by giving a general description. At least I know now what it's called.
DeleteGlad to help with that at least Kid!
DeleteIt's not "What were they thinking ?", but "What were they on ?" to come up with a 'Rabbit Space Blimp' (three random words that don't belong together in any circumstances!)?
ReplyDeleteAnd why, oh why, is the Rabbit of the 'Rabbit Space Blimp' a BEAR!!!
One that looks like 'Rupert the Bear', travelling incognito, for that matter?
Mish.
ha ha, Mish I know! LP blimps are mad! Its interesting what you say about the bear. I bet there's a Bear Blimp out there too. Its just in the wrong box. Maybe?
DeleteIf so Woodsy, what animal head is 'pulling' the 'Bear' Space Blimp ?
ReplyDeleteIt's a polar bear, by the look of it, so maybe...a Husky ?!
Mish.
It could well be a Husky Mish. That looks like a dog's tail would you agree?
DeleteAlso, 'Rabbit Space Blimp' kind of reminds me of something else ...
ReplyDeleteI've got it, 'Toilet Duck Mousse'! Remember that ?
Maybe it was from the same marketing agency ?
Mish.
ha ha. Love it. I hope no-one has ever eaten that Mousse by mistake! I wonder if kids these days would now what a blimp is? Could be a lost word?
