Hello Woodsy,
As a snap reaction to your posting about the football-shaped ice cream container, please find attached a small selection of plastic counterparts from the 60's Finland.
Although too young to remember them from my own childhood, they bear the essence of the Sixties' childhood for me. Seldom seen, I try to collect each specimen available.
Cheers,
Arto

Sounds like they are difficult to find, Arto. Nice to see Helskinki Base toys and collectibles here :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tony. All so true, these containers were discarded as easily as ice cream wrappers.
ReplyDeleteThe penguin is the brand mascot of our major ice cream manufacturer Valio, still operative today.
In the '60 we had some of them here in Italy too: I remeber from my childhood the football & the "head" ones for sure! :-)

Superb collection arto. Did you eat ice cream from those dice?
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I have been trying to remember, Woodsy, as I have a faint belated recollection of eating ice cream from one of those dice as a nipper. But perhaps that's just a ghost memory.
DeleteThe name of those dice in Finnish was Noppa, meaning - you may have guessed already - a die.
ha ha, I remember a sweet in Germany called Noppa. Its kite shaped pieces of nougat wrapped in foil. Delicious!
