Just checked the name of the truck used to carry Gorgo across London in the film Gorgo.
Its a Scammell Highwayman.
I found out on this amazing database of cinematic vehicles https://www.imcdb.org/m54938.html
I had a look see if there was a toy version of the truck and lo and behold... a corgi classic!
So what about Gorgo?
Is there a toy that would lie nicely on he Scammell under a plastic tarp?
The little Palmer monster I know is too small but there are some bigger Gorgo's particularly in Japan.
This is a limited edition green Irasawa from 2003 I saw online. Gorgo is too small for the truck I think but the big figure Ogra, its Mum, might work.
Anyone got a Gorgo figure and a truck to recreate the scene?
At the risk of being monotonous, I must point out that the Gorgo and mother figures shown above exist today thanks to fellow New Jersey resident Jim Cirronella of former online superstore Club Daikaiju. He approached the president of the M1 toy company in japan with ideas for toys of Gorgo, Reptilicus, and the Rat Bat Spider from Angry Red Planet.I am excited to see that truck does exsist in toy form,it would be great to re create that scene!
ReplyDeleteJim C must have been a true monster fan Brian. Going to those lengths to get monster toys released is a labour of love and very laudable. You have them all don't you? Yes, the Corgi truck is available brand new online I think.
DeleteI do have all 3 Club Daikaiju exclusives and if you look on Ebay, you might notice they all come in a few different colors.
ReplyDeleteSuperb Brian. Youre got gettin evacuated are you?
DeleteOh, just seen its the Carolinas and Virginia. Poor people. Its a monster storm thats on the way.
ReplyDeleteI will see rainy ,windy weather from now through probably Saturday afternoon.Probably wont get worse than that.i appreciate your concern, but rest assured,Jersey Monster Base is heavily fortified!
