This is the tin Space Scout car by Yanoman of Japan
I wonder if the Otaki kit below courtesy of Rob C is from the same Yanoman source or Yanoman itself?
and the box [not Rob's]
There is also an LP type plastic Hong Kong made space car that may also be based on the Yanoman.
Here's an LP type carded version I saw on the bay with four LP astronauts but sadly no car.
and 10 years ago reader Ykessa shared this beauty for the first time with us, his lovely boxed Space Car.
But who is the maker of this toy? LP?
I believe the answer would be found in the lower left corner of the blister version card, which I have never seen before. There is a maker's mark PETR- rest is illegible. I do not have my loose example at hand at the moment, but I recall the car being marked underneath with letters P E both in their separate, partially conjoined circles.
ReplyDeletePETR could be PETREL Arto?
DeleteThat Space Patrol Car Mahha is both beautiful and bonkers! The Batmobile from batman- the brave and the bold rear end is similar!!- Mark J Southcoast Base
ReplyDeleteIt is Batman in Space isn't it MJ! It recalls the Speed Racer car too. I wish I had one and turn a few heads on sunday drives!
Deletesuper duper stuff, its everything space! wings, fins, chrome, domes, guns.. whats not to like?
ReplyDeleteThat green toy Space Car at the bottom is so much like the Otaki Mahha/XKW Space Patrol Car, it’s obvious that somebody copied the other. Such a cool design, even if totally impossible!
