This unidentified spaceman set appeared and was sold on Ebay USA in July.
It appeared to be in great shape.
I was tempted for a while.
I assumed straight away that it was a Captain Action Flash Gordon set.
But is there any way of knowing if its old or new?
Wasn't Captain Action and his outfits re-issued?
Based on the pic, it looks like an original 1960s outfit by Ideal, Woodsy. The Playing Mantis re-issue backing card is different to the one shown in the pic. Also, the re-issue Flash Gordon was packaged on an action figure, ready for play or display.
ReplyDeleteI'm unsure about any differences between the Ideal and Playing Mantis outfits? Maybe there are subtle contrasts? :)
Fascinating Tone. I think they bagged a bargain there then. Not sure if we've ever covered Captain Action much on Moonbase.
