One of the first wave of Japan SF models, circa 1967. I built the Paramount US release, circa 1969. A pretty, if simple kit. Believe it or not, I just bought a fairly complete copy of this kit (minus box) on ebay a few months ago. Can't wait to build this beauty again. Nothing like a Japanese SF tank! US name was "Space Command Tank 5"
I think every Japan SF design post-1965 was "inspired" to some degree by the Supermarionation universe, but I never saw any specific reference from them to the Space Command Tank 5 design, which is pretty generic after all. A very cool kit. When I get around to slapping it together, you will definitely get pix!

Deleteand Shigeru Komatsuzaki illustrated so many of them! I wonder if Gerry Anderson was aware of his box art in Japan?
