Missus Moonbase recently told me how she and her junior friend would raid the kitchen food cupboard and make a mixture from whatever they found: sugar, nutella, jam, syrup, apple compote, choco sprinkles and so on!
Then they would take the mixture in a bowl and dare each other to sample it !
It reminded me of two mixtures I've experienced myself.
Our daughter used to mix together anything she found on the bath shampoo tidy in a bowl: Voseen medicated, Johnson's baby oil, Conditioner, Shower Gel, Soakey bubble bath and maybe some body milk.
The whole lot was then mixed together to form a new substance, which is best described as gloop or goo. She then applied the lot to my hair whilst I had a bath! It would then be lathered up, rubbed in, left on a few minutes to work [!] and rinsed off with a rubber mixer pipe connected to the taps. It was the most intense shampooing I've ever had!
Similarly I myself as a young alchemist back in the Sixties loved to ransack the chemical cupboard under the kitchen sink. You know the stuff, all bio-hazard level 4: Vim, Domestos, Jayes Pine Disinfectant, Stardrops, Plug Hole Cleaner, Silver Polish and Baby Bio.
Needless to say the bowl of slop reeked to high heaven and maybe even bubbled a bit! Usually dark brown for some reason, I knew I couldn't give it my older brothers to drink so I did the next best thing and made them touch it. How? I poured it on the seat of the swing in the garden and challenged them to a swing-off to see who could jump off the highest.
Yes, eager to trounce me they'd both go first and thus sit on the offending fluid! ha ha! I now call it Quatermass and the Seat!
Did you or your kids ever make up mixtures of some sort?
