Following in the small footsteps of my mini-space figures post last Friday, here's some more of the diminutive astronauts. You just can't get enough of a good thing on the bloggiversary after all!
First up is this is the Arco Playkid Space Set from 1978. Inside a nice window box you get a small silver moon rover, two figures, a control console, plastic rocks and lots more. The figures remind of Action Jacks but what is that on their heads? Custard Pie?
You got even more pieces from Arco in their Play Kid Galaxy Control set. Thirty three pieces and a play stage! That silver moon vehicle and the control console re-appear in this bigger boxed set along with a small silver landspeeder-style vehicle.
Arco also released that most unashamedly brazen Star Wars knockoff line in 1978 called SpaceWars. Popular with Star Wars knockoff fans there's tons on the net already so no need for me to visit that cantina again here.
German toy company INTO released a similar range called Play Flixies, which included a space series of window boxed sets.
Two basic basic boxed sets were available as far as I know, each coming with two rather comical astronauts. This one below included a green flying saucer.
The second basic boxed set comprised of a small moon rover with red grabbing arms reminiscent of the SpaceX MEV2.
INTO also released a deluxe window boxed set of both of the above two vehicles and three astronauts, which is rather nice!
Italian toy company GIG joined the fun as well with their Capsula Spaziale boxed set as part of the Play Time range.
The attractive box photographs clearly display the contents.
the toy itself is a plastic carry-case in the shape of a space capsule complete with handle for moving it around.
Inside the carry-case are various cleverly stowed plastic toys including a yellow moon rover, a seated astronaut and two types of apparatus.
and finally for this bloggiversary piece here's a photograph from the internet of a set I mentioned last Friday in Part 1.
Its the Star Adventure Robot Animal Play set.
I had the Lunar Buggy Play Set in the early 1990's, but I can't find a photograph of it anywhere,
Hope you enjoyed Part 2.
Send me your pictures of your small space toy figures and sets.
If I had seen that Capsula Spaziale as a child, I would have been utterly obsessed with it.
ReplyDeleteMore surprise space toys... you're spoilin' us, Woodsy :) What a colourful selection of junior space cadets you've assembled this time. The Play Flixies saucer looks out of this world, as does GIG's Capsula Spaziale. Can only wish I'd have had them as a kid :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it Richard and Tone. That Capsula is pretty brilliant isn't it. Just realised I missed out Playmobil from these posts. Doh!
