Its persisting it down here in West Yorkshire.
The inclement summer weather makes me think of umbrellas and whether there were any toy umbrellas in our yoof?
I can't think of many.
One from the 80's was that fishy foe of Gotham, The Penguin, who had a brolly [is that the same as an umbrella?] I recall when cast in plastic for the DC Super Heroes range by Toy Biz. In fact I once bought a whole bag full of around twenty loose ones to sell on my old vintage toy stall!
Going further back to the 60's I've read that Fairylite's Lady Penelope figure black and white outfit actually had an unbrella too. I've never seen one in the flesh - alas I only had the Parker doll as a nipper - but it is expertly described on the mothership of old Thunderbirds toys, Thunderbirds Vintage Toys here http://www.thunderbirdsvintagetoys.co.uk/FairylitePenelopeOutfit6.htm
I suppose the most famous umbrellas have to be those carried by Mary Poppins in the Disney film and Steed of the Avengers.
I'm unsure of any toy umbrellas were made for these two characters.
Do you and can you think of any more famous or toy brollies?

Postscript:
This multi-coloured sun parasol [dare I say a sunbrella?] by Fisher Price reminded me of Toy Biz's Penguin umbrella pictured above. What Fisher Price range is it? Antone know?
