Its the longest day and the shortest night of the year.
The old hippy in me yearns to celebrate on an ancient site like Glastonbury Tor.
As I can't be there here's a model I made way back in 1981 showing the Tor, a beast and a wizard! All very Arthurian! Underneath I inscribed the words 'be banished thou thing of darkness'!
Have you got any Arthurian - Middle Earth models and toys?
To commemorate Midsummer on the Tor vicariously we can enjoy this Wiki picture and listen to the essential Summer Solstice track, Leylines to Glassdom by Steve Hillage.

Happy Summer Solstice readers.
How will you mark Midsummer?
And a Happy Summer Solstice to you and your family, Woodsy :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tone, I had a lovely meal of pie, mash, veg and gravy with my Daughter and family. Baby Moonbase got broccoli and small home made brioche pizza slices. It got everywhere but he loved it! I enjoyed driving home in the cooler late evening through the traffic-free roads of Leeds and the M62. Driving towards Midsummer's dusk.
DeleteIt is now 9:18p.m. in New Jersey and I'm watching the last light fade from the sky.I guess that's as long as a day gets here.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely to have long summer days Brian. When we were kids I remember every day being long throughout the summer and the summer seemed endless. Its only as an adult that I've become aware of time.
