The P.E. take on the Captain Scarlet 'Hero' vehicle looks pretty good.
Like all the P.E. die-casts it's got plenty of detail, and the weathering isn't too heavy, I'm still not sure about the sprayed on panel lines, though.
The overall shape is fairly accurate, but that bumper is a tad too pointy for me. It's not a deal breaker though, as it's still a great looking display item.
It does have features like fold down rear tracks, and a flip - out door complete with seated rear facing Captain Scarlet. There's also some detail showing the steering controls just visible inside the cab.
Here's the indestructible chap in driving pose . Unlike ( the earlier versions of ) the Dinky toy Captain Scarlet doesn't come out far enough to fold down to the floor.
Unfortunately, it's the only Captain Scarlet related item in the original P.E. die-cast range which is a shame, as I'd liked to have seen their version of a Maximum Security Vehicle or a Spectrum Patrol Car.
I found this disappointing (despite its great shape) because of the sprayed on panel lines. It desperately needed them to be part of the chassis like the Dinky and Vivid Imagination SPVs. I still bought it, but it could've been better.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm not keen on those painted on panel lines either, Kid. P.E. could have done what they did with their Interceptor and put on some slight grooves and paint them black, much more effective.
