Continuing the tricks and jokes theme check out the shop window of Dinsdales joke shop in Hull.
Dinsdales is an institution in the City and fans include Ken Dodd no less.
I visited Hull last month and stumbled across it. The proprietor was very freindly and explained that the shop had been supplying Hull with tricks and jokes for decades as the shop window display attests.
The further left you go the older the display items. Sadly only the modern stock was for sale in the shop.
I loved this old rocket kaleidoscope.
And these Holy Bible viewers brought back memories. I loved them as a kid!
There were toy pistol miniatures too with plastic ammo. I have some of these in my attic!
More plastic rockets though not sure what these do.
I've been looking forward to reading this article about Dinsdales. It sounds and looks like a fantastic place to spend quality looking at and memorising all of the colourful tricks, gags and novelties, past and present. The pics really bring the whole thing to life for me. Well done, Woodsy... an ace report, well worth the wait :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tone, It was a real treasure to come across it on the Hull City Trail. The photo of the front window doesn't do it justice sadly. Its a bit blurred. Two very famous Labour politicians had been in the shop that morning!
