Mat Irvine's involvement in Smallspace meant some of the original Blake's 7 props were on display.
I was particularity pleased to see the only surviving Liberator from Blake's 7. The model is more or less complete, and still bears the scars of the space virus that affected it in the final episode of season 3, Terminal.
There was quite a few other original Blake's 7 props that have survived over the years. These System Chase Ships from the episode , Redemption.
The Atlay Shuttle from the second season episode, Voice from the Past.
'Orac' the artificial super brain, first mentioned in the penultimate episode of season one , Deliverance, and first seen in the following episode, Orac.
Part of the Teleport controls.
Finally, the Andromedan Scout Ship which was made from sticking two Morphy Richards hairdryers together. It is seen very briefly in, Star One, the final episode of season two.
Always nice to see the Liberator, pity it can't be cleaned up/restored a bit more.

It's a bit of a tricky one that, isn't it. Seeing it with it's final screen look is quite interesting to me, but as a few bits have gone missing over the years maybe a restoration would be in order.
DeleteDon't forget the two R2-D2 domes on top of the hairdryers.
ReplyDeleteAnd possibly R2D2 feet that the Atlay shuttle lands on.
ReplyDeleteThey do look very much like them and given at least 2 R2D2 kits gave up their lives for the scout ship, there'd be enough of them to use for quad gear.
DeleteIt also looks like the tubes/sensors/lights/kibble on the nose of the Atlay may be the R2D2 rotating eye/camera piece
I am pretty much sure the Atlay shuttle first appeared in the Doctor Who story The Invisible Enemy or something very similar.
ReplyDeleteThe Titan Shuttle, a different model appeared in The Invisible Enemy. This model was also on display at Smallspace, as can be seen on one of my other posts.

The helmet worn by Blake in same episode is also a prop from The Invisible Enemy. I would expect the designs and some moulds etc. just being reused to save money. Yes I am aware this post is 5 years too late but my TARDIS is on the blink again and I appear to be stranded in 2022. What a rubbish year.
DeleteNot to worry, Andrew, better late than never. Hope you're TARDIS rights itself soon. Cheers
