For those interested in my short Ninja side-step into Eastern arts, here is a small selection of the Martial Arts books I amassed as a 13 year old with the help of Father Christmas, my parents, siblings and Sweetens bookshop in Preston!
Fascinated by all things Oriental ever since, I lay the blame squarely at the feet of two silver screen Sifus who kicked and kata'd their way into our young lives, sadly now both in the big dojo in the sky:
the serene David Carradine who played Kwai Chang Caine in Kung Fu, a show I loved, the tie-in strip in Look-In too, complete with free dragon medallion!
and of course great Bruce Lee. Terrifyingly beautiful. He was the King of Kung Fu.
Both of them are greatly missed.
* I bought the Japanese Arms and Armour book opened out at the back from the estate of John Entwistle, the late great bassist with The Who. He was a martial arts fan as well!
