Not long ago I made a little post about some inexpensive plastic planes, I had from childhood:
http://projectswordtoys.blogspot.co.uk/2014/11/airplane-graveyard.html. Having recovered a new X-15, it left the Starfighter and Draken to be replaced. Thanks to the help of an ebay seller, who let me buy a single toy from a larger unsold lot, I picked up a new model of a Draken recently. Besides figuring prominently in my childhood, the Draken featured in Gerry Anderson series as the basis of kitbash material from kits such as the Airfix range. Most prominently, it starred as the air sea rescue plane in Thunderbirds.

WOODSY'S ZOMBITE ADDENDUM
Vintage Japanese Thunderbirds Giant Heavy Machine Gun by Matsushiro with a red Zombite Fighter Plane in the box art! Now that has to be a rarity!

The rear of the box depicts a huge Zero-X, so it gets even better! You can see it and read more over at Brian's brilliant Alphadrome site.
Lovely that Bill. And a friendly Ebay seller too. Bonus. Interesting that Thunderbirds connection. Was it used as a Zombite fighter as well. The tapered body reminds me of that Ultra Seven Ultrahawk 1 space plane we discussed last week.
ReplyDeleteThe Zombite was based on the Starfighter kit.
ReplyDeleteCheers kev. I was amazed to see a picture of a Zombite on the boart of a Thunderbirds toy rifle recently. Now there can't be many Zombites on toy boxes! I'll add it to end of this post for fun!
DeleteThat's not a Zombite. It might be a red arrow?
