I recently came across this grab bag of space toys on Etsy. A beautiful selection of carded treats to be sure.
What really caught my eye was the small bagged set with the Valu-Pak header card bottom right. It contains an SPV no less from Captain Scarlet!
I couldn't really make out the other red ship so I consulted the oracle: I asked Mr. Vreede, who kindly furnished the blog with this fabulously clear photograph of his carded set containing the very same ship in yellow, which Paul explained was basically a Molab.
This set continues to mash-up Anderson and NASA ships as we have Thunderbird 3, Thunderbird 5, the SPV, a Gemini capsule and the Molab. I imagine that the card art has been lifted from elsewhere too. The Molab picture is certainly similar to its original rendition on the cover of the magazine Rocket Stories.
Paul also pointed out that one of the toys on the Etsy group above states that Valu-Pak is from Party-Time Products Ltd of Toronto. They're Canadian! It reminded me that I bought a Valu Pak baggy a couple of years ago featuring a small helicopter and some SpaceX-like astronauts shown below on the left.
The final slant on this bloglet is the Molab toy above. I was pretty sure I'd seen something like it before so I searched.
Yes, a pencil sharpener no less!
Anyone got any more Valu Pak toys or Molab/ SPV miniatures?
