I thought I'd photograph my other Apollo13 collectables.
The press pack, the blu-ray, a lobby poster that my local cinema was giving away, the novel (which came before the film) and a fascinating 'making of' book that also doubles as a text book on the whole Apollo project.
I think the film is a marvelous recreation of a thrilling time in Human history and if you ever get the chance to see the TV series they made afterwards, 'From The Earth To The Moon', then do so, it's magnificent!
I can't praise 'From The Earth To The Moon' highly enough. It is a drama series that covers the whole of the Apollo era, usually with one episode per mission. You wouldn't think it would work, but it really does.
They manage to get a warm, amusing 50 minute drama out of the designing of the Lunar Module! The episode that deals with Apollo13 doesn't bother showing the space scenes, there being no point so it deals with the crisis of journalists trying to deal with the biggest news story ever without any pictures!
Hanks is in the final episode, playing the cameraman filming Melie's 'From The Earth To the Moon' moving picture in the 1800's, contrasting the scenes in the film with the mission of Apollo17.
Take care,
Kevin
