I've been watching one of my favourite old British sci-fi B-movies, The Night Caller, which stars John Saxon, Patricia Haines and Maurice Denham.
It's a story of low budget Alien invasion, done in true British style with baffled but open minded scientists, assorted soldiers from a restricted Government establishment, and a large rubber hand!
Here's a teaser for the DVD release by Renown Pictures
The film was also notable in that it used for its title music, 'Image' by Alan Haven. This instrumental piece was used regularly by the UK pirate radio station, Radio Caroline. Versions of the film released in America used a totally different vocal theme; The Night Caller song.
Also, it's release in America was under the slightly misleading, but far more dramatic title, Blood Beast from Outer Space. Here's the trailer for it on YouTube.
Finally, the creepy interview scene as the mysterious Mr Medra hypnotises the trusting Miss Malone. Watch out for the rubber hand at the end!

ReplyDeleteHa, ha! At least he commented, even though he was a Blood Beast Spammer from Outer Space!
Deleteand his links lead to operations using fruit extracts! ha ha. I've never seen this John Saxon flick. Is the colourised version widely available Scoop? I bet this mixed up with Kolchak The Night Caller.
ReplyDeleteit's a good film but the colours are very poor. it kinda reminded me of the hal roach studios colourised version of night of the living dead in 1986. i wish it was colourised by a colourisation company like west wing studios.
ReplyDeletehopefully arrow or VCI do that when *hopefully* they will release it on blu ray.
