It has reminded me that I first met our man, Woodsy in person, at the previous' TV21' Fanderson convention way back in 2010.
In those fledgling days of the blog, I was but a humble, but enthusiastic contributor, and used the camera on my phone to take pictures. Luckily, my mate Andy had a much better camera and was able to take a few close ups of some of the attending guests, including Gerry Anderson and puppet sculptor, John Blundall, both who are sadly no longer with us.
Other guests from that convention included voice artist Gary Files (pictured below), who was the voice of Captain Magenta in Captain Scarlet and The Mysterons, and Matthew Harding in The Secret Service.
Model maker and designer, Mike Trim, and model maker Alan Shubrook, (both pictured below) talked about their days at Century 21, and working with 'The Guv'nor', Derek Meddings.
Here's Alan doing what looks like his famous puppet impression!
There were quite a few original models too, mainly from Space: 1999.
To pinch a phrase from Woodsy, the whole event was champion!
God, is that 5 years ago Scoop! Blimey, scary! Is was a reet good do though. Pretty neat hiow we both had SWORD badges on! I'm once again so envious of your next Fanderson bash next month. Still, with you going it'll be like we all went! Champion! ha ha
ReplyDeleteTime goes fast when you're having fun, eh Woodsy. Mind you, before Fanderson there's a comic con in Blackpool I want to go to, so I might get a few photos from that.
DeleteWhat a life Scoop! Its fun fun fun all the way for ya! ha ha
ReplyDeleteLife's for livin ', Woodsy : D
DeleteGary Files also played Tom Ramsay in Neighbours. I'm embarrassed to admit that I know that.
ReplyDeleteHa, ha! Kid, it might have been best to have kept that to yourself. I'm not going to mention that I can think of another Neighbours actor who had Anderson connections. ; D
