Made in 1953 by U.S. company Futuristic Products, this is the Strato Gun, a die cast cap-gun.
As I mentioned in the comments on Woodsy's post, it was remoulded in the U.K. as a Dan Dare water pistol in 1954.
This example from the Alphadrome web site.
Now that's a quick turnaround if ever there was one! Straight out of the Scoop tray! Great connections there. Ray guns do seem to have longevity don't they, more than most toys. I just looked up the Dalek Thunderbirds gun over at the Dr Who Toy Box. They say its originally from the Netherlands. I wonder which Dutch company that was? Looking at the Toy Box's gallery of Who guns [ so cool ] it looks like the Thunderbirds Dalek dalek image was swiped from the Lone Star Dalek Rocket Gun http://www.doctorwhotoybox.co.uk/index.php/page/views/sub/11386361253/sec/16056304711
ReplyDeleteI did some work on ID'ing the other images a few years back. Watch it, old post coming through!
