S.W.O.R.D has been an occasional acronym in popular culture ever since our own favourite Project S.W.O.R.D appeared in SOLO in 1967, meaning Space World Organisation for Research and Development . Given it's thrusting nature it may have even been used before that!
Here's a starter for ten for another S.W.O.R.D. This one is from Marvel Comics, It stands for Sentient World Observation and Response Department. Here's the logo.
