Would Triang's SpaceX toy fleet have made good Pod vehicles for the JR21 Thunderbird 2? It's likely that they were in the same toy piles back in 1970 so maybe, kids being kids, the MEV2 or the Hawk went in the pod?
I don't own a JR21 Thunderbird 2 anymore but of you have one and some SpaceX knocking around then why not take a few snaps of different pod SpaceX for a laugh.
I suppose in Gerry's show, all the pod vehicles had very specific functions concerning rescues. Now I think about it, how many of the SpaceX fleet actually had a definite function like that? Neither has project SWORD for that matter.
Is their another toy line made up of single-function vehicles that would be a good stand in for the Thunderbirds pod fleet?
What do you think readers?
I beg to disagree - the majority of Spacex toys -do- have a specific function. Forklift, Space Patrol, Prospector, Ferry, that's pretty specific?
ReplyDeleteOther than that you're absolutely right - Spacex and Thunderbirds go very well together! Always thought so too, even before we found that many Spacex designs are from TV21 comic strips.
I'll see if I can contribute a pic. :)

Of course! the TV21 connection Paul. They are virtual stablemates! There's a great similarity between the SpaceX tractor and the Thunderbirds radar truck as well I think. Specific spacex [hard to say fast!] would well fit the bill then. Watch this space. Kev's just emailed me!
ReplyDeleteYou're right, Paul. The Spacex tractor derives from an illustration in TV21, but the cab design of the vehicle is from a Thunderbirds vehicle.
ReplyDeleteAnd Kevin's done some excellent pics (as usual), pretty much what I had in mind.
