For many years the only proper model I had of this supersub was the small simple kit made by Aurora, which incidentally I still have.
Although the detail is excellent on the kit other companies have provided additional add ons, like special lighting, instrument decals and brass photo-etching. Believe it or not you can even get a sound chip of the sonar!
Naturally I got one, and some of the add-ons. The special lighting kit was a must have for me as that uses different sized LED's , fibre optics and a translucent pad for the control room ceiling. Also the water slide decals which means a lot of the instrumentation detail can be covered quite quickly.
So with no more excuses I've at last got round to building it, starting with the detailed Control Room which is a kit in itself.
Sadly, once it's installed inside the model's hull most of the fine detail will be partially hidden, but it does give that all important finishing touch to what I hope will be a fine model.
As I progress with Seaview I will be giving occasional updates on how I'm getting on.
Thats big! Looking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteIt is a monster, a proper sized model. It would normally be fairly simple to put together and paint, but I've got to make allowances and slight alterations for the lighting.
ReplyDeleteIt will be brilliant when you've done it. Think of the size of the set you'll need to build to photograph it in!
ReplyDeleteHa, ha! You're right about that Kev, I never thought of that.

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely amazing Scoop. It's a shame to lose the delicate interior detailing. Has anybody ever thought of introducing some of those revolving mini cameras inside, given it's such a monster of a kit?
