This Corgi classic came out in 1966 and is certainly an attractive die-cast (mine's sadly missing the Waverley Ring) and the colourful display box really sets it off.
On the driver's side is Napoleon Solo firing his UNCLE special.
Press down on the periscope on the roof and Illya Kuryakin leans out gunning for T.H.R.U.S.H.
The front windshield is peppered with bullet holes.
This UNCLE Thrush-Buster was based on one of Corgi's previous die-cast models, the Oldsmobile Super 88, and as happens, their Thrush-Buster did turn up in a rarer off-white colour.
The big problem with the UNCLE Thrush-Buster is it's not really a car that featured much, if at all in The Man From UNCLE. The sporty car that was to be known as The Uncle Car was the customised Piranha which came out as matchbox size toy a little later from Husky Models.
Never the less, for a youngster like me in the sixties, the Thrush-Buster was a fun toy to have , even if, apart from the Uncle Logo across the bonnet it had very little to do with the series.
A great looking advert from TV Century 21 which shows the car in blue.
The display backing card and box which shows the car in orange!

Psst. I know where you can get an U.N.C.L.E. ID card if you don't already have one.
