This is an online gallery of pictures of SpaceX and Golden Astronaut toys I've either got or, mostly, seen on the net over the last few years. I've begun with the first scan I ever took, above, of my own collection in the 1990's before the days of digital cameras.
We end with the knockoff Roxy Golden Astronaut SPACE EXPLORER
triple pack Paul V reminded me of in my recent post on SpaceX triple packs.
That was awesome Woodsy! Thanx for that.
ReplyDeleteYou can never get enough Spacex, Woodsy!
ReplyDeleteQuite a review! With pics from long ago that bring back some memories too, in recognising images from friend's collections. And (again, sorry) recognising a few things that I actually ended up owning, and also a few things that I rea-eally wish I had!
ReplyDeletecheers -- Paul
Thanks for such an informative site!
ReplyDeleteI found it because earlier today I was watching the Thunderbirds episode "End Of The Road" (one of my favourites) on DVD. My 3-year old son loved the tracked red construction vehicle that Eddie Housman drove up the mountain. I loved it too, but because I remember having a cheap 1960s Hong Kong toy space vehicle that - while wheeled instead of tracked - had the same front section as this. The toy's design was obviously ripped off, and I must have known about it at the time, being a huge Thunderbirds fan. However, it didn't matter, and I have fond memories of that toy. I have a vague memory of seeing this toy in a shop window, along with several others in the range.
So, I was suddenly gripped by the urge to find out what they were, who made them, and whether I can get photos of them (or even some of the actual toys!). I remember that each vehicle came with one or two silver-plated astronaut figures (about 1/76 scale).
I'd bet money that the toy we had still exists, probably tucked away in a corner of my brother's attic!
Anyway, thanks to your site, I now know what it was, who made it, and even that I mis-remembered the colour of the astronaut's plating!
Great I could help John. Those are super SpaceX memories! I know that urge to find our what toys where called etc! If you want much more info about SpaceX then visit my friend's fabulous SpaceX site http://www.triangspacextoys.info/
