I'm beginning to think that there were as many rubber LP aliens and astronauts made as there were hard plastic ones. I'm seeing these rubber invaders everywhere online and in large quantities. Its suction cup invasion!
This set recently seen on Ebay even had a box!
Here's the maker's name and address close up. Barton Toys of Seattle and Vancouver. Do you think Barton made all the rubber aliens and astronauts we see? Where they all called Invaders? Anyone know much about them?
I ha few of these when young. I'm sure they are Hong Kong made, I suspect Barton Toys just repackaged them?
ReplyDeleteSorry, just seen- the box says Hong Kong, too!
ReplyDeleteI just picked up a few of these on eBay, as I remember having some when I young. I found out a bit more about them on a Facebook page, Jigglers Rubber Monsters and Figures (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1684993071811916). They were sold in the US as Invaders or Moon Platoon, often in packs. I bought them loose in the UK as Moon Men - this would have been around 1972. Like most Jigglers, as they were copied and imitated, it seems they tended to get smaller, harder and less colourful!
ReplyDeleteNice find KP! Some of them featured as hard plastic aliens in the Apollo Moon Exploration box set we've featured here a few times. The spacemen were based on the LP and Triang SpaceX golden astronauts, which we love on Monnbase!
