During my recent visit to Moonbase, I was in an ideal position to compare one of the items in the Apollo Moon Exploration set. I haven't got the larger boxed set, just one or two models from various LP space sets and carded APEX (Apollo Moon Exploring) toys.
One of the most iconic toys is the little purple copter, based on Triang's Spacex Helicopter P3. I have only ever seen the APEX copter that I had as a child, so when I saw the model in Woodsys set, I noticed an immediate difference. The copter in the boxed set sports two fins on the main fuselage.

The Spacex P3 and my version are almost identical, but the boxed version is noticeably different. What's more, the box lid shows the little copter clearly in the foreground, but the fins have been added mechanically after the photograph was taken!
The photo clearly shows dark fins which have been stripped in with a film overlay at the print stage. Does this suggest a late amendment to avoid cooyright issues with Triang ? Has anyone else got the finless version?

Addendum: Ubercollector Ed Berg kindly sent me a shot of the 'finned' Imperial carded copter set.
