I spotted this Mini Moke on the Bay last month. The box art looked familiar.
Seeing the maker's mark on the listing confirmed what i thought, S.L of Hong Kong. The model number is 112.
The rear of the box is not so familiar.
But comparing the Mini Moke box front with the S.L Task Force no.3 box is interesting.
They both have a single round-cornered picture to the left and a simple toy title and description on the right. I would say that they are similar. The model number of the Task Force 3 is 121 C.
and BOOM! I've just realised the possible significance of the 'C'. A, B, C! It make sense that Task Force No.3 is model number 121 "C". It's the third in a series. Task Force 1 is probably model number 121 A and Task Force 2 a likely 121 B! I've just never thought of it before!
It'll be hard to prove though. The SL Task Force No.3 example I have is the only one I've ever seen, never mind finding it's hypothetical stablemates!
The model numbering may not have anything to with a series of three toys though at all. It could be referring to Century 21, the original source and then again it could just be following whatever model number 111 was!
What do you think readers?
Just a thought, I wonder if the "C" indicates it was a bought-in line from another manufacturer? (Although "C" for copy seems unlikely!)
