Greetings Woodsy,
The image that Andy B posted some weeks ago appears to be a reinterpretation of this image from page 27 of Jack Coggins book By Spaceship To The Moon. Check it out!
Best,
Will
Your recent post on the toy with the diver astride a space rocket reminded me of this flyleaf illustration from my battered "Amazing Stories" volume. This was produced in the 1950's but still available in the 1960's - I had a copy one Christmas. I suspect the idea of spacemen astride rockets was a common one at the time.
Best wishes,
Andy B.
Looks pretty definite that the illustration is a copy!
ReplyDeleteNot surprised, as the whole story book is a bit "cobbled together" from what seem to be different sources, -also includes a copy of the Dan Dare space helmet.
